Pedicures and Planning: Prepping for Our Next Adventure
There’s something about sitting back, toes in warm water, that makes planning a trip feel even more exciting. As the nail technician picked the perfect shade of coral for my toes, I couldn’t help but feel that little thrill of anticipation for our upcoming adventure. Pedicures and planning sessions are a bit of a ritual for us now; it's a chance to relax, dream, and put pen to paper (or fingers to screens) to map out the journey ahead.
Choosing the Destination
Our travel list seems endless, but after some debates and a few flips through old travel magazines, we landed on Portugal! There’s just something about Portugal’s blend of coastal towns, vibrant city life, and timeless history that felt right for this trip. A month in a place as charming as Lisbon, with little side trips to Sintra and Porto, sounded like the perfect escape.
Mapping Out Must-See Spots
As the pedicure bubbles away, I start jotting down a few must-see locations on my phone. We love balancing our days with a bit of everything: cultural spots, natural beauty, and local food markets. For Portugal, that means:
- Exploring the castles of Sintra – fairytale palaces that look like they were lifted from a storybook.
- Wandering through Alfama’s winding streets in Lisbon, with a stop at a café for pastéis de nata.
- Visiting Porto’s famous wineries to learn more about port wine (and, of course, taste a few!).
- Taking in the views from the cliffs of Algarve’s coastline.
The excitement of all these new places makes each stroke of nail polish feel like a small celebration.
Planning for Relaxation
Since we’re planning a full month away, our trip will include a mix of adventures and some downtime. We envision afternoons lounging at a café, watching life unfold, and the freedom to wander off the beaten path whenever we feel like it. Travel doesn’t always have to be a whirlwind of activities; sometimes, it’s about immersing ourselves in the slow rhythm of a new place.
Packing Essentials (Including Pedicure-Ready Sandals)
As we talk about packing, I make a mental note to bring those new, comfy sandals – perfect for showing off freshly polished toes! Lightweight clothes, a good sun hat, and, of course, plenty of sunscreen are on the list, too. Portugal in the spring promises sunny days, and I want to be prepared to stroll comfortably for hours.
Our Pedicure Planning Ritual
For us, these pedicure planning sessions have become a pre-trip ritual, a moment to reflect and connect with each other as we map out our journey. There’s something grounding about these simple rituals before a big adventure. It reminds us to savor each part of the process, from picking out our itinerary to finally setting foot on new soil.
So here’s to coral toes, big dreams, and all the adventures yet to come. Have you got a travel ritual or special way of planning your trips? Let us know in the comments!
